Opportunities Outside the Classroom
Northwestern University and Weinberg College offer a variety of opportunities for students seeking to turn intellectual curiosity into hands-on experience.

Undergraduates participate in a wide variety of challenging, well-focused research projects. Some students work with faculty members to develop independent study projects based on personal interests. Others become involved in ongoing faculty research as a paid research assistant or for course credit.

Explore links between your academic work and the "real world." Whether in business, politics, the non-profit arena, or anywhere else, internships can provide valuable hands-on experience. Volunteering is another way to become part of a community, get involved in an issue, and consider options for your future.

Experience another country up close and learn how the world looks from another society's point of view. Many Weinberg College students participate in one of the University's affiliated study abroad programs in more than 40 countries.
Student Honors, Awards & Leadership
The College gives awards for academic work, and honors are granted for outstanding work. Both college and department honors are available. There are also opportunities to play a role a role in college decisions as a member of the Student Advisory Board.
